Here are the Mac procedures for accessing the H drive or Webfolder from a Mac. This includes Shared drives as well.

- Using Tiger (Mac OS X v10.4)
- From the Finder's Go, use Connect to Server or Command (Apple)-K.
- Type in and save (using the + button):
https://webfolder.stanford.edu/your SUnet ID/

You need to have logged into one of our lab computers (in Little Tree or Big Tree) in Windows at least once. The first time you log in, a script should run which will create you H drive.

In the log into window, type in your SUnet ID and SUnet password. Save this in keychain, if you wish (but don't save it on someone else's Mac or their keychain). The result is that your H drive is now available in the Finder:

Note: you can click on these images to make them larger...

This is also accessible via the web, if you type in the same URL above into Safari (OS X 10.3.9 or later), but you can only download files.

Note: you can insert "lab" or the name of a shared drive (if it exists for you) in place of the SUnet ID in the URLs above, for access to those drives.

Prior to Mac OS X v10.4 will require using a third party app called Goliath, which is available here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11096 Run the same procedures in Goliath.

WebFolder is a Windows system, so their naming convention is required. This may be too restrictive, but to be conservative:
- don't use any punctuation other than _ or - (underline or hyphen).
- no option characters (i.e. upper ascii characters, like accents, etc.)
- filename length, try limiting to "7.3" (7 characters (dot) and the 3 letter file extension), longer names may be possible.

Shared cross-platform environments may require more limited naming conventions.  Preparing for this in advance, may save last minute problems uploading files.
